Progress on Woopyland is looking ... well it's looking non-existent for you guys, but in actually it's going pretty well behind the scenes. So... if there are any volunteering scripters and drawing artists out there, please strengthen our team up - we've got plenty of ideas lined up, ready to be processed into actual usable features. You'll be working with a truly one of a kind crew.

Winners
FUGE had some style and won the coolest woopy contest and the pretty neat lightning background. The other winner not mentioned yet is Bear2, who won the "No Apostrophe" lottery and the 184934 jackpot. Congratulations you two, enjoy your prizes!

Fellow woopies,
I regret to inform you that I am working on a new project that will benefit the future of Woopyland, and that this project requires a lot of attention and time. This means that I will be rather absent from Wooypland for the next few weeks or so. It is the belief of the staff that this project is HIGHLY influential to the success of Woopyland's future! If this site is to continue for years to come, sacrifices need to be made. So now, I will be leaving most of my duties to Whoolie for the time that I am gone. This means that any glitches you find, you either don't report them, or you report them to Whoolie. In fact... just don't report them. Whoolie will also be running any events that are planned for the next few weeks (like he normally would) except he will be getting minimal help from me. This means things might become a little slow moving, but I hope that the members of Woopyland can understand.

As for the other part of the title...
Yes, we are starting a new contest!
The contest is "Coolest woopy", so dress as cool as possible! The reward for winning said contest is the background clothing - "Lightning"!
The contest begins this Friday!

One last thing, Whoolie would like to inform y'all that the lottery is ending this Saturday so you should buy some tickets soon!

That's not all! I've been hard at work on a few projects during the move and I'd like to let you know that I've revamped a few features and pages, add some features, and greatly improved the stability of the website by patching it to work with PHP5.3. Here's a list of the new features/changes:

- Flag topic as: Use this feature above every forum topic in order to flag a topic that needs to be moderated. These flagged topics will appear on a list viewable by the mods.
- Revamped trading center: I re-engineered part of the points transferring page to transfer points over to strength and intelligence without navigating from the page!
- Revamped members list: I re-engineered the members list to display all of the members for each letter without navigating from the page.
- The Market page has been added: I'm kind of sorry about this one... I replaced the buy stuff pop-out menu in favor of a much sleeker looking menu that you have to visit via web page... I hope you people will accept it
- Woopyland is centered!: The site is centered in your browser..

There are plenty of behind the scenes updates as well that I don't intend to discuss, so let me just tell you some ideas that are being thrown around to use some of the new features for -

- Automated lotteries (Instead of man operated)
- 2x extra Fridays! (On Friday between 4-5AM and 4-5PM Central US Time, the extra you earn from games will be doubled!)
- Events list (A list that displays the current events at Woopyland)
- More BETA features! (You'll hear about this soon if you are a BETA member )

Members of Woopyland,
As you all know, woopyland has been going through a lot of changes in the past few months. It has been my pleasure to finally get a chance to work for you all this past half a year. I've had the chance to grow my web developing knowledge and practice some new things. However, we host this website by taking advantage of a company that has forgotten it is hosting this website. The company has now changed a few things up, and it has come to our attention that Woopyland needs to be moved to another Host POST HASTE. I will be transferring all of the scripts, and as many of the images/games I can. King Woopy will be aiding with the move by gathering the images necessary to make sure Woopyland stays in tip-top shape.

So what does this mean?
Simply this. Please stop making points, please take a break from Woopyland. I assume, that if less members visit Woopyland during the move, we will be able to transfer files faster. It won't be a large help, however Woopyland won't be in great shape either. It will take at least a day to take down the site and purchase the domain name on a separate host. It will then take 1 day to 1 week to transfer the files and upload the database to the new site. Hopefully, things will go as planned. However, we are taking some risks in this procedure. If you continue playing games, I cannot assure you that your points will remain. We will be backing up the Database as soon as possible. Anyways, please enjoy Woopyland today. And tomorrow, on the day of June 15th... take caution. The moving will commence sometime this week... this is your Developer - Chris... signing off until further notice

I'm happy to announce that due to efforts by our founder, King Woopy, Woopyland now has 15 more mutants! A few of the members are already showcasing some of the new mutants, so look around! Some of these mutants are the most powerful Woopyland has seen in years! Others are well... quite useless.

Also, four more clothes have been added! These include the following:

First of all, I'd like to point out that Whoolie will be busy with School work for the next few weeks, so you will have to deal with me taking over some responsibilities and keeping News fresh for a bit

Now that that's out of the way, I am pleased to announce that a member of Woopyland has kindly developed a Flash game worth of being added to the site. So without further ado, I would like to congratulate Lounge256 for the success of his game "Donut Maker" that is now playable in the Strength Section.


Pick up the ingredients of the donuts and bring them to their respective factories. Make sure to deliver them before the factories run out of business! Grab the roller skates to give yourself a speed boost and a cube of ice to slow down the factories! Pick up the gears for extra points!

Now on to a more pressing matter. A new feature has been added to site. This feature was once a BETA Feature and is now a full blown public feature. It will be publicly tested for the next few weeks to determine if it is fit to stay as a public feature. It will also be updated.

Investment System
Members can now invest their extra points in companies of their choosing! When companies gain popularity, the share worth of that company increases, and thus the investments in that company increase! You can invest in as many companies as you like, but not the same one more than once! Have fun with he new feature. See the Company FAQ for more details about the Investment system.

Last but not least, the last Scavenger Hunt Item has been posted! We will unveil the results tomorrow. Message Whoolie your answers if you have 10 or more. We have changed our winning system. Message Whoolie the answers if you have TEN OR MORE.

Enjoying the Beta? I know I am. New features have been added to it today... just sayin'. In fact, you can check out this Vlog to get mine and Whoolie's take on the closed Beta. Also, I'm sure plenty of you notice this morning's Game Down time. Let me explain a bit about the game event that happened today.

Basically, I woke up and flicked on my computer screen and had 3 different people asking me "When are the games going to be working again?" and I hadn't even known they were down! Luckily, Whoolie filled me in on the project and I got started on fixing up some of the games that needed tweaking. Basically, Whoolie has reorganized the games in a more realistic fashion where lower scoring games come before the high scoring ones. As for the changes I made, a few of the games are now properly worded, pong now has a score counter, and Making Friends now has a new score system and is a starter game! Enjoy the changes!

Moving on, I just wanted to thank all of the members whom joined the contest. I also want to let you know that the contest judging has started! So we should know the winners soon

Rolling out Woopyland BETA 2010

Hello,
As the Woopyland Developer it is my honor and my pleasure to finally announce to all of you, that Woopyland is now sponsoring a BETA community right here on the site. Any one of you members will be able to apply for BETA Tester status. As a BETA Tester, you will have access to features that are not currently available to the Woopyland Community. You will also have access to pages that normal members cannot access. These pages will allow you to see important updates that most people are not informed of. Another one of those pages will give you the ability to send private reports to the Crew in order to report glitches and improvements that can be made. These reports hold priority over PM’s, reported messages, and reported posts. As a BETA Tester, you will ALSO get an exclusive secondary job of “BETA Tester”.

So… how do you get into the BETA? Let me say this…
You will NOT get into the BETA by spamming me or any other crew member with messages or emails.
You will NOT get into the BETA by having other people refer you.
You will NOT get into the BETA by begging in this topic.
And most importantly, you will NOT get in to the BETA by bribing the crew (except for Punisher).

“So how DO I get in?”
A few people will get in automatically, due to their commitment to Woopyland. These members are listed below. You will also get in if you possess ANY REP points. (The scavenger hunt is a way to earn some of these “REP” points.)

Members who get in automatically:
- All of the crew (and secret crew)
- FUGE
- Evanator
- Zeus

Now, I’m sure there’s a ton of you whom don’t make either of the requirements so far. So here is the third and final way to get into the BETA.

You can send in an application to join in the BETA experience. However, remember this. Points are only slightly taken into account, AKA you don’t need a LOT of points. However, you WILL need to provide some stuff you have done for Woopyland. You don’t have to have contributed a great deal of content… but it helps. We will also look at your forum posts AND your amount of time spent as a member of Woopyland. If you get in, congratulations! If not, wait until the OPEN beta of 2011 (TBA).

Oh and one more piece of information… There are only 50 spots in the BETA as of now, and we will be extending that amount to 100 sometime this summer, but for now, spots are limited. So I would apply soon!

Now there are a couple more things I want to address. First of all, those of you who entered the contest, congratulations, because it is now CLOSED. Judging will end in a couple days time. Secondly, some of you may have noticed that the Lottery has disappeared. No, it hasn't. If you look in the "Buy Stuff" menu, it is now placed there. Speaking of the lottery...

May 2010 Clothing Contest Started

A new Clothing Contest has started: Most Random Woopy!

Members now have a counter on their profile that tells them how many people have viewed their profile. In this hunt, you will be looking around the Woopyland site for a specific object. We will tell you a riddle or what object we are searching for, and you, the member, will search this site for the object that the 'riddle' is referring to.

Example: Look for that which has no feet, but moves faster than a race horse.
Answer: Mega Woopy - Link :: Because he does not have feet, however he is a Level 5 mutant, therefore quite fast.

How will this game work?
This hunt will continue until 15 items have been declared. Each day from this moment forward, a crew member will be selected by either Whoolie or Me and that crew member will create a new crewblog telling everyone the riddle for the next item. If you find the item for the previous day DO NOT TELL ANYONE WHERE IT IS. DO NOT TELL THE CREW. YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A REWARD UNLESS YOU FIND EVERY SINGLE ITEM. Got it? You must find EVERY SINGLE ITEM that we list in the next 15 crewblogs. Also, all of the items WILL be Woopyland related.

How do I win the hunt?
You must find ALL 15 of the items, and then you must post the NAME of the item AND a link to the item in a PRIVATE MESSAGE to Whoolie. WHOOLIE, WHOOLIE, WHOOLIE. NO ONE ELSE. It's been a very long time since Woopyland has acquired a new game. Games take time, patience, dedication and a lot of work to cook up... I created a game long ago that was fair in general sturdiness, however needed some work and adaptation to use the Woopyland games scripting system. I decided today to update said game to support Woopyland. The results were very promising, so naturally Whoolie and I went through some editing and revising of sorts and finally, a new game had been born. Thus, now allow me to introduce to you ---


Evade enemy battlewoopies on your hoverdisk using the mouse. While evading them, use LEFT CLICK to throw stones at them in order to earn points. Every battlewoopy that survives causes a point deduction of 20 points. Also, there is a time limit of 30 seconds.

The woopyland games are officially working with the new version of Adobe Flash Player! Go head on over to the games section of the Members Area to play all of the fixed games. The games that have been fixed include the following:

Moving Forward…

It is on this solemn day, that we mark the first large mistake made by this new administration. It brings me pain to say that as of yesterday, around 4:50 GMT -6, two of our oldest and dearest members that have more site history than 98% of the members reading this, were deleted in a deletion operation where we planned on finally removing the account “Coolboy” from Woopyland. A script that is meant to delete the member selected and ban his IP also deleted all accounts on that IP – that IP was the IP of Zeus and Hera. Though I cannot heal the wounds of the past, I will do my best to move forward into the future, inexorably. Whoolie and I, and by extension the entire crew, knew the responsibility we must bear when we took these positions. We knew we would run into problems, accidents, unexpected occurrences, or even failures of epic proportions. Today, we made the first mistake, and today, we will recover from this first mistake. I, as the Woopyland Developer, cannot heal the wounds of Zeus and Hera, however, I can and will take full responsibility for what happened less than 24 hours ago – I take full responsibility for deleting both members. Though by moral standards, we cannot blame a single person for what a snowball effect created, we can blame a single person for repair standards. I will take any blows necessary if Woopyland will trust Whoolie and the rest of the staff to step forward into the unknown and conquer the battles of scripting, designing, planning, and implementing ahead. We must trust that these people elected to serve for the betterment of Woopyland will make the best future Woopyland possible. So with great sincerity, I formally apologize to Zeus and Hera for the loss and trouble caused by this incident. I have recovered as much account information as possible (with the aid of Whoolie) and will assist you in recovering anything else you remember and need to recover!

Now let us remember this loss, and other past losses – and move forward! It would be an insult to Zeus if I made this article without announcing future projects, because after this loss, I must give something in return, equivalent exchange if you prefer. So allow me to prepare you for the march ahead, with an announcement of currently running projects! I will list in Chronological order the releases of new functions I plan to make.

Month 1-2: Fix all bugs remaining, revamp admin and crew abilities – this will include a reporting and warning system. During this time I will also store site abilities in separate PHP Functions – this means posting posts on the forum, messaging members, trading points, etc will all run smoother and will allow for more proper coding in the future.

Month 3-5: Add new features and profile customizations. We are planning a new form of profile page where you can customize your woopy to a greater extent. This will include the ability to select a location of your woopy (Woopyland Map-wise), a name for your woopy (an actual name such as “John Doe” that appears as your woopy’s name), and other customizations that will make your woopy seem like a living breathing extension of yourself. Also, I will try to fit in the new function that allows you to SAVE clothing sets, for instance you can make a clothing set for fireman or a clothing set for arena fighter and switch between those clothing sets. There will also be a lot of news in this time period, count on having a contest every month too!

Month 6-8: Top secret projects unveiled, new forum features, maybe even a customizable house for your woopy? Also, some site functions will be converted to AJAX during this time; this will allow smoother, updated, more dynamic code! Also - near the end of this time period you MIGHT be able to expect a glimpse of a new Woopyland Layout! Yes that’s right, new menu, look, even perhaps the feel. The new layout will stay woopyland-ish, and I will make sure to keep the simplicity that our site currently has as well.

Now… as we remember the losses, and think about the future, I will bid you farewell for today. Have a nice time on Woopyland, and enjoy the new features!

The casino owner was out on vacation and could not make a public statement regarding the lottery, however we interviewed the lead designer of the lottery architecture and ideals of the system, he had this to say:

Hello everyone,

Let me begin by telling you this: it took me several tries to start this news article because I wanted to make sure it was as special as it deserved to be. I probably did not succeed in that, but the rest of this news article will probably represent the specialness just fine.

First off, let me introduce myself: You can all call me Whoolie. I'm definitely not a newcomer, but I am the new guy who will be sending all of the news articles. This has a reason, a very obvious reason: I'm the new King. "WHAT?!" you must think. Well, that's what I thought when he told me in a private message.

Anyway - with that, a new era has arrived. A new era where updates will be made, where bugs will be fixed and where the community will hopefully grow, too. Several crew blog articles have been posted about this already, but the two most important ones for now can be found here:

Along with the new era comes the need for new a better and new crew, therefore, the inactive crew is no longer crew, the current crew has become more important and a new crew is wanted! We already have one new crew member (Punisher: who is a developer), but the site needs more! A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a crew blog article about it. If you're talented, still interested/regained interest in Woopyland, don't hesitate checking out our crew applications here.

Lately, a lot of people have been reported trying to get other people's passwords. Quite some people have given their password and in this way they have lost their account.
People might tell you that they are part of the crew, or that you have been reported and they can fix it. Others try to get on other people's accounts by telling them that they have a way to get lots of points.
NEVER give anyone your password! When people ask for your password for ANY reason, report the message and don't answer. Do not believe what they say.
When someone tells you that they are part of the crew or they are a second account of King Woopy, and they need your password, do NOT believe them. The crew NEVER needs your password. In the rare occasion that King Woopy would need your account, he can access it without needing to know your password.

Anyone who gets caught trying to get on other people's account, will get banned immediately.

A game contest is a contest where you have to do specific things in a game. The prize will always be extra points and bonus points.

Game Contest 1: Backfire
The goal in this contest is to score as few points as possible in the game Catapult! If you're lucky, sometimes your Woopy can go backwards in this game. Sometimes it will even go past the catapult again, scoring negative points!
When you scored negative points, post it in this topic. The person with the lowest score wins 500.000 points and 500 bonus points!

Who can enter: anyone! The only thing you have to do is post your score in this topic.

A lot of people have been asking me how to get more people in their companies, and a lot of people have been asking me how to get a job. Now here's the answer: Job openings!
In the members area menu, you will see a (temporarily red) link called "Job openings". Click it and you will see all of the current job openings.
This page will be extremely helpfull when you're looking for a new and better job. You might not qualify for all of the offers though! If you don't qualify, simply get a better job and try again. This way the offering company will see how good you are and maybe accept you after all.
When you own a company, this page can also be very usefull! You will be able to create new job offers. When other Woopies click your offer, you will have a new employee! However when you leave your company, your offers dissapear too! You will have to pay to put offers on the site though.

I will also create some job offers myself sometimes. For example right now there are 5 offers to become a mailman. More will come soon!

Today is the start of a new contest: an invention contest!
The goal of this contest is to invent Woopylands newest transportation device. This can be a device for one or multiple Woopies. The winner gets an amazing 1.000.000 points! Also if the invention is good enough to get added to the site, the winner will get the invention as a piece of clothing for free!

If you have a great idea, how do you send in your invention?
First you need to work it out. You could read this topic to get some hints. Think about your invention toroughly. If you feel that it won't work out, try to think of something else.
Another thing you need to keep in mind is that the invention can't be something that exists in real life. For example you can't invent a car.
Also don't invent things that work because of magic.
Lastly, you need to be able to explain your invention as deeply as possible. It's not enough to say that you press a button and the device goes flying, you need to explain exactly what pressing the button does.

To get a good idea of how to post an invention, read some of Woopylands already added inventions.

If you're completely done, you can post your invention in the inventions forum.

Our nr2 member AJ will be managing your inventions and help wherever he can. He will also make sure your topic doesn't get filled with spam.

The contest runs until March 3rd. Then King Woopy and AJ will review all of the inventions and pick a winner. They will choose a winner by March 7th. If the winner's invention is good enough, it will even be added to the site!

The long awaited new company system has finally come online!
If you own a company on Woopyland, it will be possible to make deals with other companies. This way your company's popularity will rise. The more popular your company is, the more points you'll earn. However if you let your popularity drop too much, you will lose points!
Making deals is pretty expensive, but if you manage to get your popularity high, you will get lots of points back! You will also receive a lot of points when other companies make deals with you.

Try to get the most popular company on Woopyland and become the new richest member!

The page to manage your company can be found under the "members area" menu. You can only see it when you own a company of course.

If you don't own a company yet but you have a lot of points to invest, you might want to consider getting one! If you do own a company but you don't have a lot of points, this might not be very interesting, unless you start playing games right now!

Next I will be working on some new designs. There will also be a new school-proof design, which many of you requested . It will be less flashy so you can visit Woopyland at school and not get caught by the teacher!

Before the next contest starts (which is gonna be somewhat special), I'm holding an in between contest!
We need a banner to promote Woopyland on other sites, and we need it now! The active members count is dropping way too far, so we need advertisement.

I'm calling on you guys to make the banner that will be used by hundreds of Woopies to promote their favorite country!
The prize? Eternal honour and 1000 bonus points! (bonus points are an extra to the points you get every 4 days for your job, which means 1000 extra points every 4 days!)

Want to join? Start making banners now! You can make as many as you want, in any program you want. The only thing you need to remember is that its width can be 500 pixels at most, and its height can be 150 pixels at most. Also try to keep the filesize around 10 - 20 kb. (or lower).

In the meanwhile, the virus called "Quadopipolilirotis" is still raging through Woopyland. At this moment, almost 700 members got infected!
To all the members who got infected already: something went wrong with the automatic messages which inform you about the illness. My apologies for that. The important thing is that this illness can be good! When you've got this illness, your points will drop every day (until you cure automatically after a couple of days). However: when you play games, you get more extra than normal! So it's either losing a lot of points or gaining lots of points

When you play this game, you'll probably recognise the gameplay. It's some sort of spin-off of Woopy Fight! However, the only opponents you'll face are Woopy bombs. These Woopy bombs don't have any weapons, but they could explode at any moment! You can try to avoid them, or destroy them before they get the chance to explode. The first few bombs will be easy to destroy, but they get stronger!

This is an intelligence game and you can play it when you have 1.000.000 intelligence points.

Our police force has arrested a group of criminals selling fake passports. This allowed Woopies to have multiple identities.
Now that the criminals are caught, King Woopy would like to make clear that double personalities are strictly forbidden!
From this moment, everyone has two weeks to put all of their points from any double accounts to their main account. After these two weeks, the double accounts will be permanently deleted!
You can report all of your double accounts to King Woopy for a reward of 5000 points per reported account. However do not report accounts that don't belong to you, you will get a fine for this.

We hope the passport scandal will be solved soon and everyone will only have 1 identity.

While changing the highscores, I accidentally changed too much highscores, resulting in a loss of some highscores in woopy fight, woopy fight 2, war, super stones, and all of the block typing scores. My apologies for that.

You have to try to catch as many good fish as possible. Bad fish will cost you points, and you might end up with zero points again after a while. The trick is to stop at the right time. You can stop by catching so many fish that your line breaks.

The 16th contest has started!
This contest is all about the circus. To win it, you have to dress up your Woopy like on of the many circus jobs. The most original and funny one will win!

There have been some other changes too lately. As you might have noticed, Woopyland started to get slower and slower because of the many visitors. That's why I did some cleaning up in the coding, making everything a lot faster again. This change also brought something new: personal highscores!
The personal highscores mean it is now possible to keep track of your own highscore in each game, even if you don't make it to the top 10! Your best score in each game is also shown in your profile, so everyone can see it.
If you check the highscores of any game, it is also possible to choose how many highscores you want to see. Default you see 10 highscores, but you can change this to any number you want.

Last but not least, about 10 new clothes were added lately.

As the forum is getting busier, which means people are also spamming more, there are now some new forum moderators!
Vero and Horoma are now part of the forum moderator team, together with King Woopy, Whoolie and Ualac. Also, AJ will help out in the Invention and History fora.

Not only the forum became a busier place, but also the message center is being used more. Because this also means more people mis-using this system, I've now assigned Whoolie as an extra messages moderator. He can now also read the reported messages and ban members when necessary.

Last but not least, the language fora have changed. They are now no longer language fora, but regional fora. These are fora for certain regions, like the USA and Canada, where you can talk about events in that area. Meetings, festivals, parties,... I hope you'll enjoy them. When I notice people from another country are visiting more, I will make a forum for them as well.

A new game has been added to the collection: Woopy Fight 2!
As you can see from the name, this game is a sequel to Woopy Fight. In this version, you fight against Woopies that represent other members! They will have the same color, and their strength will depend on how much strength they have on Woopyland. Always wanted to prove you can beat Ualac or AJ? This is your chance!
A nice extra to this game is that you can make yourself a stronger opponent. Just get more strength points on Woopyland, and people will have a harder time beating your character!
There are new backgrounds, and you could also encounter a "mystery gift" between levels. Click it to get it. It could contain some healing, but also some other interesting things!
The opponents you can face in this game, are all members who are capable of playing this game, which means: all members with at least 1.000.000 strength!

If you've got enough points, check the game out right now! If you don't, play some other games to get there!

Today and only today, you can buy a pumpkin overall cloth on Woopyland! This is a special action for Halloween. There are only 50 available and after that, you won't be able to buy them anymore, except maybe from other members at the drop-off. Buy them while you still can!

The 12th contest has just ended: Krob, dressed like a fisher, has been chosen as the sportiest Woopy! It was a very hard decision though, as the five judges each voted for three completely different members than the other judges!
The next contest will start at the end of November, so make sure to come back then!

Today, a whole bunch of new stories were added as well:
The creature from the sea: A year before this story, there was a story were pirates got attacked by a giant monster. Six months later, this monster attacks Woopyland and King Woopy has to find a way to stop it!
The three way war: Woopyland gets attacked by mutants, and to make it even worse, they get help from the criminals! How will the army win this battle?
The land of the undead: The nuclear plant dumps its waste at the graveyard, which has some unpleasant consequences.. (4 clothes which appear in the story images are now for sale!)
The heroic mutants: A story about how the three first friendly mutants help to win a great war.

All four of these stories were written by AJ!
We also got help from Vero, who is our new "Woopyland Linguist" and will help us by checking the added stories for spelling mistakes.
If you feel like writing a story, feel free to post it on the forum. However, read the other stories before you write your own, so everything will be right. Also remember that there are quite some stories about wars already, so be original and write about something else.
A few things you could write about: The origin of the dangers in Blombar, a tale about a ninja clan, or any other special events in Woopyland.
Also the story "How Agon came to be", which tells us how Agon came to be and how King Woopy got his staff, could use an update, as the content doesn't fit Woopyland very much (too much magic and mystery).

When you check out these stories, you will also discover some new items on the history page: News articles! These are some small articles about important events in Woopyland, created by Zeus, our "Woopyland Reporter". Make sure to read them too!

One last thing: as you all know, Halloween is coming soon. Because of this, you will be able to buy a pumpkin head as an overall clothing, only on October 31st! This action will start on October 31st 0:00AM GMT, and it will end October 31st 12:00PM GMT. If you miss it, you'll have to find another member to buy it from!

The idea is simple. Try to look like your good at some kind of sport. As always, you'll have an advantage when your Woopy is original and when it doesn't need an explanation.
The prize is a "Mexican wave" background. When you click on the name of the prize on the contest page, Testwoopy's profile will open and you'll see it.
Just like in any contest, only 100 members can join, so don't hesitate! Join now!

Replying to messages: When you reply to a message, the message you're replying to will be automatically quoted in your message. This makes it easier for the other member to remember what he said to you. When several quotes appear in each other, they will not appear as quotes, but they will simply be printed in italic.

Cheap items in drop-off: The best buys in the drop-off will be shown in red, so you can see them more easily. Clothes that get this privilege are clothes where you get a reduction of at least 75%, or hidden clothes that cost less than 1000 points.

New clothes: 20 new clothes have been added to the collection. Check them out!

A new feature was added to Woopyland: the clothes stock.
What does this mean? Well, there is a limited supply of each piece of clothing. Whenever someone buys a piece of clothing, there is one less available to other Woopyland members. After a while, the supply will run empty, and you won't be able to buy this piece of clothing anymore!
Don't worry however, the stock gets refilled every month! If you can't wait that long to buy your favorite cloth, you can visit the drop-off and try to find it there. In other words: the Woopyland stock will keep the drop-off in business!
Of most clothes, there are 20 pieces available. However, there are some special ones, like some inventions, of which there are less available. For example: there are only 2 icicle spheres available each month.
You can also see how many clothes are sold out at the random information page.

Another nice feature for those who want to buy every single piece of clothing: you can now buy a set of random clothes! If you visit the "Buy Clothes" page, you will see a little form. Just fill in how many clothes you want to buy, and the site will do the rest! The site will select random clothes and add them to your collection, just until your extra points run out, or until you've got as much clothes as you wanted. This will save lots of times when you want all clothes
When you buy large amounts of clothes, you can also get a reduction!

You can now also see who the superwoopies and mutants are by going to the random information page, and then hovering over the numbers that indicate how many superwoopies/mutants there are!

Also don't forget to visit Woopyland again Wednesday, as the current contest will end then and the winner will get his prize!

It's been a while, but a new game has been added to the site! The game is called "Rolling" and you can play it when you've got a sports-related job.
You might not know it, but rolling is the Woopies' favorite sport! The rules are simple: you roll down a hill and try to be the first down. You can bump into each other or pull all you want!
This game is all about this sport. One extra rule in this game is that you lose when you reach a checkpoint as the last out of four racers. Bumping into other racers will give you some extra points! This allows you to use some the other racers to help increase your speed!
It also happens that donuts roll down the hill. Grab them for extra points.

Don't forget that a little while ago, I added a list of some important jobs, and who owns them to the jobs overview. You can use it to check what jobs are still free, then use the Information Center to know how to get them. The 10th contest just started! Because this is the 10th contest, it is a little more special than the others.
This contest is called the job expression contest. The goal is to dress up your Woopy expressing your job. The most original participator will win the prize 'Falling in a hole', which Testwoopy is wearing right now. The best members in Woopyland also happen to have the hardest jobs to express in an original way, so the results may be interesting! So don't forget: don't just dress like your job, make it original too!

This could be a pretty hard contest, but don't forget the judges will have an even harder time judging, as each Woopy will be different.

This is just a small newsletter to let everyone know that the problem with the games should be solved now. To those who stopped playing because of this, feel free to come back .

Also, as you might have noticed, the "You got payed" messages now come from yourself. This is completely normal. Do not worry, you're still getting payed.

There are more new jobs than just these, but you'll have to discover them yourself!

The mental institute brings new dangers to a few jobs. When you've got a job that might drive you insane (like invention tester) or a job that means that you're insane already (like psycho), doctors of the mental institute might take you with them and you will lose your job! Of course, this won't happen immediately after accepting a job like this. You might as well just go unnoticed.


About the problem with the games: If there is anyone still getting the "Unknown problem" after playing a game and after reading the previous news entry, you should now get some more information with the error. It should at least say "Unknown problem -- ". If you get this, please send me a message and tell me the full error. This should help me in solving this problem as soon as possible.

I have received several complaints about people not receiving any points after playing games.
Here are some possible solutions:

1) Make sure cookies are enabled. Normally the games should work even if they are disabled, but I have seen some cases where they don't. To check this, go to your internet options and check privacy (in IE), or in other browsers, check your preferences.

2) If the games don't even load, or some of them don't, you need to install the latest Flash plug-in. To do so, visit this link.

3) If the problem is none of the above and you are using Internet Explorer, download Mozilla Firefox. This is a program just like Internet Explorer, only that it is better and has much less trouble with spyware. This program is also free and I can guarantee you that it does not contain any viruses or whatsoever. You're parents won't mind if you install this program.

I will try to solve these problems as soon as possible, but as I do not know what the exact problem is, it might take a while.

The acid gun: This is a water gun, enforced to carry a dangerous acid.

The icicle sphere: A sphere made out of glass, containing a gas that will freeze all.

The electricity generator: Woopyland's first device to generate electricity. Every house needs one!

There is also a new category in the invention page: Failed inventions! On this page you can see some inventions that failed horribly, and why.
To the inventors among us: this does not mean you need to invent failed experiments. Every invention made on the forum needs to be a serious attempt. They will only be added to the failed inventions when a lot of flaws are discovered afterwards. You will not receive any prize for making a failed invention.

By now, Woopyland has a wide range of weapons. This is why no more weapons will be added in the near future, unless they are really good! (originality, explanation,...) Inventions for the other categories are still welcome.

On the forum there are also some good stories that will be added soon. I will take care of them later.

Together with these new inventions, some new clothes have been added! You can buy the new inventions, but there are some other clothes as well.

Some other good news: A few days ago, I started creating Woopyland version 3! I hope it to be finished by the end of August, but it might be a little later too. More specific information will come later. This also means new things on Woopyland will come a little slower, but don't worry, there will still be frequent updates!

The last few days I have received a lot of complaints about people asking to have a joint account with other members. They ask for your password so they can play games on your account and make you rich. However what they really do is steal everything on your account and probably change your password as well.

When you receive a message like this, do not reply to it and never give them your password! I can't give you back your points, clothes or password back afterwards. The best thing to do is clicking the link report this message when you receive a message like this.

These members will often tell you how sad their life is and how their parents just split up. Don't get fooled.
Any member reported with this kind of messages, even if it's only one message, will get banned from messaging immediately and permanently!

Please make sure your password is difficult enough so it can't be guessed or linked to your username, date of birth, etc...
Never tell your password to anyone!

When you lost your account, we can't give you back your password and you will need to start over again!

In this game you are fighting a war against mutants. You have sword to attack, and an eye-laser. Don't use the eye-laser too much or you will explode!
You only get points for enemies you defeat yourself.

In this contest you need to make your Woopy as cute as possible. The winner gets the animated unique clothing: cute eyes, currently property of Testwoopy so you can all see it.

A new feature has just been added to the jobs: Bonus points!
This is the description of the bonus points that you will see when you get one:
Bonus points are an extra to the points you get for your job.
Everytime you get paid for your job, you get the normal wage plus your bonus points!

You can get these points in different ways. After getting a decent score in a game you might get one. You will also get bonus points for getting a nr1 highscore in a game when you already have a cup! Maybe there are also some other ways...
You keep these points as long as you keep your job. When you lose your job or you accept a promotion, you lose all of your bonus points!

With these bonus points, even the worse jobs can get you a lot of points, even jobs that normally don't pay at all!
When you have a lot of bonus points, think before you accept a promotion. You might earn less because you lose your bonus points..

Some small changes from the last few days:

Forum: As you maybe noticed, destructionlord2525's nick messed up the forum layout. I fixed this by making large names appear in a smaller font.

Profile: There is now a job info page where you can see how much a member earned with his job, how much he earns, and how many days he has to wait for the next payment.

Random info: You can now see the member with the most highscores, and the member with the most nr1 highscores. Also I put all job related information under "Jobs".

History page: From now on, Woopyland has a new year every 2 months. This will give more room to inventions and stories.

Woopy Fight: The enemies attack much more from now on, making it harder to get a perfect victory. Also the better enemies appear on earlier levels, and the enemy-powerups come faster too.
When you see a small "V2.0" next to the title on the startup screen of the game, you're playing the new version. If not, refresh the page or go to your browsers properties and empty your cache.

General information and different color page: The texts have been updated.

A new game has just been added!
This game is called "Catapult" and can be played when your intelligence is at least 4000.
In this game you try to shoot your Woopy as far away as possible. You will see different items that will help or stop you.
The woopybombs will shoot you up a lot. The trampolines will help you as well, but not as much as the bombs. Then there are pillows that will soften your fall, and ramps. The ramps are double sided. Land on one side and you will shoot forward, but land on the other side and you might even turn back!

In this contest, you try to look like the unluckiest Woopy ever. For example a mighty mutant, arrested and put in jail, or a white Woopy caught up in a big fight.
The prize you can win is a falling weight, to make you even more unlucky! You can see it in Testwoopy's image.
Joining this contest can be done today and tomorrow. After that, you're too late. Also from this contest on, only 100 members can join, so hurry up!

Also as you might know already, the prices for job information in the information center have dropped. It is now 25.000 extra points per job.

A new part has been added to the site: The information center!
In this place, you can buy all sorts of secret information about Woopyland. For example how to unlock certain games or where to find hidden clothes. You can also find hints about some games.
Of course, all of this information has a price. When you're just starting out on Woopyland, you'll probably have to save a while before you can buy any information. Also don't forget, when you buy information and leave the page, you'll have to pay again if you want to reread the information!
Another thing you can buy there, is job information. When you have 100.000 extra points, you can find everything you want to know about one job. You will see the conditions to get it, what the promotions are, who already has this job, etc..

Also some jobs have been added, for example jobs in Woopyland's disco, and lawyers. You can also end up as a patient in the hospital now. This works the same a going to prison, but in this case you need to work for the army.

Due to some members misusing little flaws in Woopyland, I made a lot of security updates. Most of them are just in the coding, but there are also some that you can see.

There are 2 major updates:
- IP Banning: It is now possible to ban IP's from Woopyland. An IP is the address of your pc, so when your IP gets banned, you can't access Woopyland anymore. This will only be done in serious cases.

- Message reporting: When you read a message, you will see a little link "report this message". When you click this, a copy of the message will be sent to me and Ualac. In case someone insults you, you can report the message to us. When we receive several complaints about the same member, we will ban this member. DO NOT report normal messages. When you make false reports too often, you will get banned from messaging yourself!

I hope this will keep away hackers and stop insults through private messaging.

Also, the pills in the lab have been made cheaper! An anti-mutation pill now costs 1 million points, and an age pill only 50.000 points! Use this chance!

In this game, you battle one Woopy after another, until you lose.
The controls are simple, but when you try some combinations, you might find some tricks! At first the game will seem very difficult, but once you find some combo's, you'll be able to defeat several Woopies.

Today the lab opened!
In the lab, you can buy various pills that will have different effects on your Woopy. So far there are only 2 pills, but more might come.
The anti-mutant pill: This pill turns mutated Woopies back into normal Woopies! It will also reduce your strength though.
The age pill: This pill renews your Woopy's cells and makes it look younger. Sometimes your Woopy might turn out a little weird though!

These pills are pretty expensive, so think before buying!

You can find the lab in the submenu "Buy stuff".

Two new games have been added!
The first game is called Hover Disc. It is based on one of the newest inventions! You are flying on a Hover Disc in a strange room, where donuts are flying to you and walls are moving. Don't crash! You can play this game when you get 200000 strength.
The second game is called Out of Control! You invented an automatic arrow-shooter, but something went wrong and now you can't stop it! Try not to hit any Woopies! You can play this game when you get 500000 intelligence.

The job list has been updated again. There are some more connections between the jobs, and also some more jobs have been added, like arena owner, slave and owner of the interim office.
Also the jobs that follow "registered in an interim office" have been grouped a little. For example you can get "evening classes cleaning". If you take that, you will get all kinds of cleaning jobs later. This way it's easier to find the job that you want in the huge list of interim jobs.
Not all of the jobs have been grouped, but I'm working on it!

4 new inventions have been added to the site!

The hover disc: A new way of transportation! This is like a frisbee with a big fan underneath it. Invented by Brandon!

The snoozer: This donut will send you straight to Dreamland! Invented by Luichi!

The anti-mutation pill: This pill will return a mutated Woopy back to normal! Invented by aj!

The age pill: Take one of these and your Woopy will be younger again! Invented by King Woopy!

You can buy the Snoozer and 4 different types of the hover disc as clothes now. The pills will soon be available in a new section: the Lab.

As you will see, the inventions page has been divided into different parts. Also the history page changed. To make a clear difference between stories, inventions and site history, the links now have different colors!

There are a few small updates:
The home page changed! When you're not logged in already, you'll see a much more attractive homepage than the previous one. Let's hope this attracts more members to register!
The game called "Color the balls" also changed. The balls now have a random color at the start, and they are slightly larger. This way, the game isn't always the same, there will be some variation.

Then the clothes: There were some clothes that replaced the normal eyes. These have been replaced by some other clothes. When you had one of these clothes, you automatically have the new (more expensive) ones. Also, some other new clothes were added.

Last but not least: I started the new job system. As you will notice, every member in Woopyland now has the job "Kindergarten", and for now, getting a new job is disabled. When the new job system is ready, you will be able to get a new job again, and I will inform you about the new possibilities.

This might take a week/2 weeks though.

As you might allready know, the first contest has ended. Krolleke won the unique item: A lightning background.
There will be more contests like this. The next one will probably start in a week.

Today I also made some small changes.
The only one most of you will notice, is a new button in the wardrobe. When you press it, your Woopy is undressed and you can start dressing it up again.
The other two changes have been made because recently, more and more spam is appearing on the forum, and also I've had a lot of complaints about members insulting eachother through private messages for no reason.
The forum admins can now see a link "ban member" under each forum post. This makes it much easier to ban members from the forum.
Also I've made it possible to disable messaging for some members.

Just to make everything clear, some important points about spamming.

If you want to post in a topic, make sure you have something interesting to say. If you don't, don't post at all.
Also, stay on topic! In a topic about a new game, you don't have to discuss how cool your Woopy looks.
Don't create a topic that allready exists 10 times!
If one of your posts or topics is deleted, don't make a new posts asking why your posts was deleted. When we remove a post, we do it for a reason. When you post "why did you remove my post?", you're spamming. If you want to know the reason, send a PM to me or Ualac.

Some rules about the messages:
Do NOT insult other members. No one likes this.
Do NOT ask members to give you some points. They worked hard to get them, and they won't just give them to you unless they know you personally.

As you might have noticed, the homepage of the forum was getting VERY slow. I changed the coding a little and it should be much better now.

Also, today the auction will be cleared, so it will be only for unique clothes. If you have any clothes left in there, get them out NOW, or they will be lost forever!

About the auction: The auction is getting emptier, but there are still some clothes in it. Don't forget that any clothes still left in there by this Thursday (17th) will be lost forever! The auction will only serve to sell unique clothes, like the one you can win in this contest.

In a couple of days I will start making some updates to the drop-off. You will be able to take your items back, or change the price. You won't be able to take back clothes you allready have though! This is to avoid members with 10000 balloons so they would be the member with the most clothes.

For several reasons, the auction will change!
From now on, you can only sell unique clothes (like Ualac's rainbow suit). Regular hidden clothes can only be sold at the dropoff.

All items that are for sale in the auction now are still there. I would like to ask everyone to get their items off there (either by selling them or by taking them back) by November 17th. That is the date I will remove all items still left from the auction. Any items still there on that date will be permanently lost!
If you have taken all of your items back and this means you have some doubles, please send me a message, and I will replace them by extra points as soon as possible.

Again, a new game was added!
It's called Mutant Attack. You're lost in the mountains with an eye laser, and wild mutants are attacking you. Shoot them to protect yourself.
They will also use Woopy bombs. When you hit these, they will explode and kill all mutants close to them. You can even create a chain reaction when some Woopybombs are close by eachother! Mutants killed by a Woopybomb will give you more points.

The message center has been updated!
There is now an outbox. Here you can see your sent messages that haven't been read allready. If you want, you can remove messages here, and the other Woopy will never receive them. This could be usefull when you sent a message to the wrong member accidentally for example .

Another change: You can now remove multiple messages at the same time! Some members with a lot of messages requested this. You no longer have to remove message by message .

Next update will be the Drop-off. You will be able to change the prices of your clothes, or take them back.

The new game is called Snow Batlle. You have a team of four Woopies, and you have to defeat the other team by throwing snowballs at them.

The starting bid is 100.000 points.
The item is sold by Testwoopy. Testwoopy will lose the bid points after the auction. He would have a lot of extra points after some of these items otherwise .

There will be only one item of this clothing. Only one member can have it! When you have this, no one will be able to copy your Woopy.

This item will be sold at the new auction. This means you can try to buy it, but other members might be able to bid more than you! You'd better save up some extra points!

The sale will start Wednesday 26th around 12 GMT, and it will end Sunday 30th at midnight GMT. The one with the highest offer will win.

A new section has been added to the site: The Auction!
In this place, you can sell your special items, or bid for other people's special items.
When you sell an item, other will be able to bid on this item, and when you think you got a high enough bid, you can end the auction and receive the points.
When you want to bid to an item, you can add as much extra points as you want. Just remember, when you only add 1 point to the price, other members will be fast to overbid you!

This auction will be very usefull later, since there will be some unique clothes. More information about this later .

I am also working on the wardrobe, since it was getting slower and slower, and now it doesn't even seem to work anymore. It should be fixed soon.

Next I will make a new game probably.

As you will probably notice on your next visit to Woopyland, some pages will redirect you to the next logical page. For example when you login, you will automatically go to the members area, and when you post something on the forum, you will go to the topic you posted in. This doesn't happen on all pages that could use it yet, but I'm still determening which pages could use this, and which pages I'd better leave like they are.

A more important update: You will now get an email notification when you receive a new private message. Of course you can turn this function of in your profile if you wish to do so, but default, it is turned on, as I think most of the members will think this is usefull.

Soon I will make an auction to sell all of your special clothes, and maybe a new game will come too.

A new game was added: Color the balls!
This is a very easy game in which you need to recolor the balls in the screen as fast as possible. You just hover over the balls to recolor them, but when you hover the same ball too much, it will become the first color again.
This is a mini-mini-game though We were making some easy practices in class about Flash, and I thought I could turn one of the excercises into a game easily, and so I did it. I was bored anyway .

As said before, stones would earn more even when you don't beat the game, and less for beating the game. Also Super Stones earns slightly more now. Not a lot though: You now get points for getting into combat with other Woopies. The more Woopies at the same time, the more points!

Soon I will start some new games (I'll let you know when those will come on the homepage), and I'm also working on the new version of the site again. It won't be finished too soon though..

I added something to the profiles. On the second page of the profiles, under "More info", you can now see how many clothes this member has, and what their total valie is.
Two things changed in the random information page: The way the percentage of criminality is calculated has changed. It now looks at how strong every member of the police/crime is. You would expect the percentage to be 0, since Ualac is so strong, but it isn't. The army doesn't have anything to do with the criminality. The police fights the criminals, and the army fights when Woopyland gets attacked. When the criminality rate gets too high, we can still let the army help the police.
Also, the most popular clothe changed. Hidden clothes no longer count in this. The swimming hat was the most popular clothe, but this was quite obvious, since it's very easy to get. That's why I decided to put hidden clothes out of that category in the random information page. The most popular piece of clothing seems to be the knife now

Soon, the scoring system for Stones and Super stones is going to change.
Until now, Stones got you very few points when you didn't finish it, but extremely many points when you did finish it. This made the game very unattractive for members who couldn't finish it, and a perfect way of become extremely strong for members who could finish it. That's why I'm changing it. In the new version of this game, when you don't finish it, you will still get a decent amount of points, and when you do finish it, of course you get a lot of points, but no longer 300.000 points or more.. The members who finished it in this version will get a special place in the highscores though.
The scoring system for Super Stones is quite okay, but yet I'm going to make it earn slightly more. When you need 100.000 strength to play a game, it should get you some decent points aswell

The new versions of these two games will appear on the site next Tuesday (4th).

Last thing that will be changed is the value of some hidden clothes. Some hidden clothes aren't that difficult to get, yet they give you a lot of points. The value of some of these clothes will drop.

I'm trying to disable all the ways to get rich fast.

These are clothes that will appear on the back of the Woopy, for example wings or tails. This category brings you a lot more possibilities to make your Woopy look extra cool!

There were also some other new clothes added. A total of about 75 new clothes!

Next, there will be some more games, and I will work some more on the new version.

A new game has been added! It's called Super Stones, and it's a new version of the old game Stones. You need 100.000 strength to play it.

Long time no change. That was because my pc was broken, but now I'm back!
First thing that changed: The profiles have been updated!
There are now 2 "pages". The first page is basicly the same as the old profiles, only there is a link to send a message to the member you're viewing now.
The second page is brand new! You can see a picture of the member, read some text about him/her, see what games the member is good at, see the forum posts, and you can see if the member is online and what he/she is doing.

To put a picture or some text on your profile, simply go change your profile, and fill in the two new fields. For your picture, you need to have a picture uploaded somewhere, and fill in the right url (with http:// before it). Otherwise it won't work.

There is a link to view all the member's posts on the forum. This doesn't work for now. If you click it, you will see "Page does not exist". This page will be made later.

If there are any errors or problems, please let me know on the forum, or by replying to this newsletter.

The updates to the forum didn't take as long as I expected, as a matter of fact, they went pretty fast. The forum is back online now. Everything should work the same as before, and loggin in should be faster too.
I made a little change though. When you now edit your post, and it was the last post in the topic, it will be marked unread to the other users, so they know something changed. If you edit a post that wasn't the last post in the topic, nothing changes.

As you might have noticed, it sometimes takes very long to log in. As a matter of fact, the longer you haven't been logged in, the longer it takes to log in. This is because of some bad coding that has something to do with getting the new unread posts out of the forum every time you log in.

I am going to make this system slightly different, which should make everything go MUCH faster. The only thing that might take long would be setting all the posts read.

Because of that, the forum needs to be changed in different places, which means it will be down for a while. Also, every post will be marked unread again after the changes. Tomorrow (Saturday) I will disable posting, so everyone has a day time to read all of the new posts without anyone else being able to add something to the topic after that. This way no one should miss anything .
Sunday, the forum will be completely down. I will try to update and put it back online as fast as possible, but I will be quite busy I fear, so it might take some days.

Because of copyrights, I will need to change the name of Woopyland and the Woopies.
It is too much linked to Wuppies, which is copyrighted. The appearance of the Woopies doesn't have to change necessarily, but the name certainly does.
I didn't really care before, but now that the number of members is rising, and because of the new version, it's getting important.

Two updates to the site today!

There is a new story, written bij Dexterecus. It is called "The tale of the wicked one". You can find it on the history page.

Also, there is a new invention: The Woopy bombs. It was invented by Chris, and you can find it on the inventions page.

Soon, I will make some more games. I have started the new version too a while ago. There is still a lot of work though. I expect it too be finished between 1 September and 31 December.

I updated two games again: Block Typing and Pong

There seemed to be an error in Block Typing with which you could get more points, that should be fixed now.
the movements of the ball in Pong have been changed once again too. It is much easier to beat the pc now then it was before. Also you get points everytime you hit the bal (unless the ball just goes up and down). I played it once to test, and I got 216 pretty easily, which is a little better than getting 10 points with a lot of effort

Hi,

As you maybe noticed, Woopyland wasn't down for a day, as I said before. This is because there were some problems with changing to the new host. The hosting will probably change by the end of the month, I'll keep you up to date then if I know the site will be down.

Also, I made a little change to the forum. Topics with a lot of pages used to have a long list of pages to see, which in some cases messed up the forum layout a little. I have solved this by putting the pages in a drop down list. I hope you like the change.

There is another new game! It's called block typing. Blocks are falling down on some innocent Woopies, but you can make them explode by typing the letters written on them. You can play this game when you have 500 intelligence. I made it this low, because the first few intelligence are quite boring to most of the members .

Also, Pong was updated lately. It's much faster now, and the movements of the ball are more realistic. There's also a special move in it now!

Soon, a new invention will be added to the site: The Woopy Bombs! Maybe there will be a game about it soon too..

It's been a while, but at least a new game was added! It's called "making friend". You have to throw your donuts around when there are as many woopies near you as possible.

The new site has been online for a week now. Everything seems to go fine. Some errors have been removed from the games, there are new stories online, and even a new invention!
The comming days, I will do some more little changes to the site, and start creating some more games too.
A lot of the members have returned to Woopyland and dressed up their woopies and played some games. There are also some new members! A big welcome to them .

This Monday is exact one week before the release of the new site. About everything is ready for the release now. Every page is done, there are 5 new games (and more still coming), about 150 clothes (also more still coming), etc.. Maybe I will still do some little changes to the website, but it won't be much anyway. Sadly enough, this Monday, I will get the site offline, untill the release of the new site. I have to change things in the database, which will be quite a lot of work since I have to do it manually. Then I will also have to test if everything still works.
The old forum will stay online in that week. When the new site comes, it will be removed however, since there is a new forum now.
More suggestions for clothes will stil be accepted here.

The site will officially be released Monday 14th March. See you then .

As I said before, the site is as good as finished. I've started the forum some days ago, and this is almost finished too. The forum will only take about 2-3 more days, then I have to create about 2 more pages for the site, finish some details, and then everything's done. I have less games then I wanted to, but there are some new games, and more will be added later. Also, more clothes will come later.
The new version of Woopyland will be released 14th March (a Monday)! The old site (and the forum) will be down from 7th March (also a Monday). The reason the site will be down for a week, is because I will have to do some changes to the database, which will make the old site malfunction. Also, I will be checking the new site several times then before I put it online.
When the new site is released, you will find a 'What's new' list on the forum. The first days I will watch Woopyland carefully and try to repare eventual problems I overlooked. After the first week of the release, everything should be perfect .

Make sure to keep that day free!

The updating of the site is going very well, and very fast. I think the new site will be released by March 1st, and I will probably have some time left to double check everything then. Just before the release of the new version, the whole site will be down for a couple of days though. This is because I have to make some adjustments on the database, the games, and so on...
This date is only temporary, it could still change. But probably, it won't!

Just to inform you about the progress on the new site:
The works on the new site are going rather fast. Quite a lot of the pages have been recoded, some new images have been made, and the layout is more or less finished. Also, I've drawn about 50 clothes for the Woopies. Things for the head, the face, body, and so on.
There will be a lot of new features on the new site. The pages will be more attractive to look at, navigation will be easier, and there will also be new pages. For example, you will be able to see info about the companies in Woopyland, and who works in them. So make sure your name is in one of those lists .
What will probably take the longest to create, will be the new forum. But I don't think it will take longer than 2 weeks, it might even take only one week to finish that.
All together, the new site will be finished by the end of februari I think. It might be a bit sooner or later, I can't tell it exactly. But from the moment I get a fixed date, I'll make sure to let you know .

Never mind yesterday's message, the site won't be down! Rather than trying to understand the forum's code, and adapt the site to that code, making it very difficult for me to maintain, I'm going to create a forum myself. It will be more personalised for Woopyland, and more easy for me to change.

What will be the consequenses?
Well, first the good news, the site won't be down. I can just keep all data, and logging in will keep working. The bad news however, is that all of the messages on the current forum will get lost! I won't be able to recover them, since the tables of the current forum will be totally different from the tables of the new forum.
It's sad, but there weren't a lot of members on the forum anyway, and I hope a lot of members will come to the new one, so we can start all over new!

If you're wondering how the new site is coming along, well, the layout is more or less finished, and right now I'm recoding all of the pages. A lot of pages need new code. There will also be new pages and functions. After that, I'm going to create the clothes-system, then I will create the forum, new games are being made, and I will probably find other things to do still. So the new site won't be finished in a while, but I'm working on it

I'm going to wait with this as long as possible, but in a couple of days, the site AND forum will be down, and probably not come back online untill the new site is finished.

Because I need to change things in the database, loggin in won't work anymore. The table with the users of the forum will be replaced by the table of the members of the site, so there is a big chance the data of the forum will be lost. I think I know how to keep it, but I'm not sure it will work.

This also means you won't be able to play games anymore untill the new site is released. I will keep you up to date about the new site though. The index-page of the site will remain (as a matter of fact, all pages will remain, but the members area pages won't work anymore), so you can read the news there. I will update it enough, and as soon as possible, I'll try to give a date when the new site will be released.

As you might know allready, I'm redesigning Woopyland. A first example of how the new version might look can be found here, together woth some other info. Now to inform you about eventual downtime of Woopyland. If everything goes fine, there won't be any! I'll just make a copy of Woopyland somewhere else while working on it, and both versions will work. When everything is finished, I'll replace the whole thing, and that might be the only moment you can notice some strange things .
The forum however might be down for quite a while later. I'm going to implement it more into the site, so that the site and the forum don't look like two seperate things. I'll have to change things in the database for that, so I'll have to disable the forum when I'm working on that. But I won't do that untill all other things are done, so don't wory .
About the clothes... I've made a page where you can see what clothes have been suggested, and you can add clothes to the list yourself! The page can be found here. Make sure you are logged in, then your name comes next to your new ideas .

I'm currently looking for someone to help me with the site by creating some games. I've noticed I couldn't make enough free time to create lots of games myself. Because of that, it always takes quite long before a new game is released. Next to that, I have other things to do on the site too, so I've decided I could use someone for help.
I've put a message on some well-visited forums, but so far, I haven't found the right person. So if you know someone yourself who is pretty good in flash, and willing to offer some time to Woopyland, make sure to let me know. His/Her name will be clearly mentioned on the site.

Also, for something completely different, I'm soon going to redesign the site. I'm going to make it more graphical, and I'll make the navigation easier to use. This will take some time, so don't expect it next week . I will very soon place some examples of how the site might look on the forum, so make sure to check it.

I will also work on the Woopy-clothes, and some more games (unless I find someone to help me with that ). All these things will be released on the same date. I'll make sure to let you know when that is.

There are new colors in Woopyland! As you can read on the page with the different colors, there are passage colors. You can now have one of these colors! The colors are of course always something between the two other colors (between yellow and red comes orange for example). Go check out what your new color is on the members page!
The pink-purple will probably become more dark. It's a little too pink now

At last, there is a new game: Pong!
You probably all know the game, since it is very well known, and if I'm correct, it was the first game ever to exist.
Every time you get the ball past the pc's pad, you get 10 points. When the pc gets the ball past your pad, it's over!
The first times you play it, you'll probably end up a few times with only 0 points, but after a few times, it'll go better

You can play this game when your intelligence reached 1000.

As you might have noticed, the highscore system changed! Now, you can only get once in each highscore, only your highest score will be recorded. I did this, because some highscores where totally taken by only one member, and the scores were so high, no one even wanted to TRY to beat those scores.

Also, we need more ideas for the 'Random information about Woopyland' page. Put your brain in action and help us out

The site now has a new page: Random information. This is just a page with some information about Woopyland, but it might be fun to read from time to time. You can find it under 'All about Woopies'. As you will see, there isn't a lot of information yet. If you have more ideas, you can click on a link on the page, which will allow you to immediately post in the right topic on the forum!

Cool-Woopy gave me a hint about the Highscores. He suggested that everyone would only be able to be in each highscore once (With his/her highest score of course). I think this is a good idea, since this way, more members will be able to get their name in the lists. I will probably start working on this today. Don't worry if you're in the highscores now, your highest scores will be written down and added to the lists again!

Very soon, there will be new games, so check the site often!

Woopyland now finally has a newsletter! If you're interested in receiving this newsletter, you can let me know by changing the 'receive newsletter' checkbox in your profile (You can change your profile by clicking your name in the members area). When there is a news-message on the site, every member that clicked the newsletter option will receive the message in his/her mailbox. That way, you don't have to check the site to know when there's something new!
Default, no member will receive this newsletter, since I don't want to spam. So you will only receive it when you asked for it. This one message however will be sent to every member, just to let everyone know...
If the newsletter looks weird, it's probably because your mailbox doesn't want to read html-messages. In this case, it's better to just check the site for news, and not receive the newsletter anymore.
That's all I have to say about this newsletter.

Then there is also the revival of Woopyland. As you might have noticed, Woopyland is dying. To stop this, new games will come soon! Don't expect them too soon, but by the beginning of the new year, there should be at least ONE new game.
Also, there will be an option to buy clothes, and dress up your Woopy! This won't be finished too soon though. You will have to trade extra points to get clothes, so you'd better start gathering allready! Ideas for clothes are welcome on the forum.
One last new thing... In a couple of days, there will be a new page under 'All About Woopies'. It will be a simple page with just some information about Woopyland, like the number of criminals vs police forces, the total amount of money (extra points), and so on. Totally useless as a matter of fact, but it might be fun to check out from time to time

I made a page to change member's information when necessary, and I also made a function to remove members. I've used it immediatelly to remove some inactive members. Two members have been removed: Bel-sama and petite. They had both been registered for over a month and still had 0 points... .
Anyway, I'm going to make some more games soon. If someone has a good advertising hint, make sure to tell me. Woopyland needs it!

Since yesterday, there is a new game. It is a remake of the well-known game 'Space Invaders'.
I also created some administration pages, to make it easier to work on the site. Of course, the members won't notice changes to that, but it's easier for me.

There is finally a renewed version of the map of Woopyland. There wasn't a lot to see on the old map, but that changed now. Also, the map is no longer a flash-file. I did this to increase the looks of the map. In Flash, it didn't look as good... So go check out the map quickly. To see a description of a building, hold your mouse over the building.
Now I'm going to concentrate on making more games, and I should also make some pages to administrate the website. But because the members won't notice anything when I work on administrational pages, I'll make the games first .

Woopyland is still running. More members register every day, alltough it seems that less members are coming to the site everyday. But that's no problem.
My exams are allmost over, and then I'll have more time to create some extra games. So make sure to look out for that...

Woopyland is now running for one week. There are allmost 50 members (49 ), and more joining every day. Some Woopies have allready turned yellow, and we have one Battlewoopy allready (Cool-Woopy). Everything seems to run okay. There are allready 33 members, and almost all of them are still active. I think this is very positive. But still, I want to ask for more people to come to the forum. That way you can meet your fellow Woopies, ask for feedback, give feedback, etc...
In those few days that Woopyland has been running, there have been a few small changes. Most of them are told about in the Forum. It aren't big changes though, a little about the layout, a page to trade your extra points, etc... The most important change maybe, is the amount of time it takes to change colors. I've made them considerably shorter. You can see these times on the colors page.

Woopyland made a great start! In one day, more than 20 people registered! I don't expect the same to happen tomorow, but again a lot of new members would be nice, so make sure to promote Woopyland a little.
There are members who collected a huge amount of points allready, and there are some unbeatable highscores. Some members have found the forum too. But I advise ALL members to go to the forum. The more people there are on the forum, the better...

You read it right! Woopyland will open it's doors very soon. Yesterday evening I made some of the last pages, and while I was creating those, I noticed that the pages I thought that would be difficult, would actually be a lot easier than I expected! So from now on, if I can do a little every day in my spare time, the site could be finished by the end of the week!
At least... it wil be finished enough so you can register, go to the forum and play some games. There won't be a lot of games, but more will come as soon as possible. Maybe I can tell you what more I've got from last time. The list with the members now shows correctly what job you have, together with who your boss is and in which company you work. The page which decides what games you can play works nice, the games work too, the highscorelists work... Also, I've made a change to the news-page, you can only see the last 10 articles. Otherwise the page would load too long in about a year when there are hundreds of news articles...
The only things I still have to do are creating the page that decides whether you get a new job or not, and creating a highscorelist for everyones overal points. But as I said before, this isn't going to take much longer. Later on I'll create more games then, and maybe some extra stuff...

I've inputted the list with the jobs in the database, together with some comments for each job. Untill now, there are a total of 128 jobs! When you see the list, it looks large enough to keep the members amused, but I'm going to try to find enough jobs to get to 200 anyway. The jobs go from court fool to owner of a software company. Of course you can also get in the army if your strong enough.
This evening, I'm going to start with the page that decides which games you can play, and make sure you can play the games too. That shouldn't be too hard. Then I've got to find a way to send the earned points to the database, shouldn't be hard neither. But then I'm going to create a page that decides when you get a promotion. It also has to show who will be your boss, what the company's name is, maybe the name of the boss of your boss, etc... Then I've got to change the memberslist page. It has to show your job correctly, together with your company and boss. Those two pages will probably be the hardest.
This evening, I'm also going to work on the page to change your profile.
I still think the site will be finished in october...

As you might know, you can get different jobs in Woopyland. I thought I might do some explanation about this now.
Sometimes, when you played a game and scored enough points, you will be offered a random job. You can then either accept it, or decline the offer and keep your current job. When you get a job, there are two possibilities. You can get a job that is better than your previous one, mostly a promotion, or you can get an offer to go to school again to get a completely other job later. This means, when you are for example a reporter for a newspaper, you could get a promotion and be the boss of the newspaper, or you could go to school again and study to become a salesman... Just an example. When you are offered a job, you don't get to chose between several things. You get one job at a time, and you can choose to take it, or to wait for a better one to come. When you get to be the boss of a company, you can choose a name for it. From the moment some people have a company, other people can be offered to come work in your company! For example, when you've played the games a lot, you could become the boss of a software-company, which you call 'Software-Company'. Then when a friend you told about Woopyland (thank you very much) plays the game too, he could be offered to become a programmer in 'Software-Company' and be part of your staff. In his profile you will then see what job he has, where he works, and who he works for. That name, your name will be in the profile of your friend! In time, I will also create a page where you can see the different companies, their bosses, and who works there. To become a Battlewoopy, you'll need to play a lot of games that increase your strength.
I've said before I wanted to create a list with about 200 jobs. Well, I allready have a little more than 120, and currently I'm out of inspiration... But then again, I still have a lot of time.
About the games, I'm probably not going to wait to start accepting registrations until I have more games. As soon as the games I have work nicely and the system with the jobs works, I'll enable registering. Then at least, you can start playing with the games there are, and more will follow later. I allready told that the more points you have, the more games you will be able to play. But while thinking about the jobs, I've thought of something extra. Some games you will only be able to play when you have a certain job.
My exams are getting nearer, but as soon as those are over, I think I'll activate the forum allready...

I've created a few new pages in my spare time, here's what news I have:
First of all, I created the register-page. It works just as I want it to, so as a matter of fact, it is allready possible to register! I'm not enabling the page yet though. I'm waiting for the part with the games to be ready, so the members have something to do when they register...
Next there is the login page. It took me a lot of effort to create it, just because of one little mistake I couldn't find... But now it should work nicely. So, you can log in allready, theoretical that is. Since you can't register and therefor can't have a working username and password to log in with.
Right now, I'm working on a page to change the data you enter while registering, but once again, you can't test it because you can't log in, because you can't register. Oh this is fun!
Anyway, 90% of the site should be finished pretty soon. Only problem is, the last 10% could take quite a while. I should create at least 3 more games. When I have the games, I have to find how to input the scores in the database (which I don't expect to be very difficult). Creating the games could take a while, but then I still have a lot of work to do! When you have a certain amount of points, you will be offered a job after playing a game. To enable that, I have to create a list with lots of jobs, then specify which jobs are promotions to which other jobs, etc... There should be a lot of variation in the jobs, otherwise everyone would have the same job, which is pretty boring... My goal is to create a list with at least 200 jobs. Then I have to input these jobs in a database, create a script to decide what jobs you can get, etc...
So as you can see, a lot has been done allready, but a lot still has to be done... I hope the site will be finished in the end of october, but I can't say that for sure yet...

I allready told that I got woopyland.com a few days ago. I've slowly started working on the website from then, nog much though. There is allready a page where you can see the members, which should work fine when more members register too. When you click the name of a member, you go to a page with a little info about the member.
Next to that, I've installed the forum. It's not active yet, but once I need it, all I'll have to do is activate it. I'll activate it when I have at least 20 members, maybe I'll even wait for 50 members. We'll see...
I'll slowly start with the pages for registration. You won't be able to register then though. Before I let people register, I'm going to make sure they can play the games. I'm going to have a lot of work with that, so that's going to take some time...
I should create some more games too...

I just came back from vacation, and Woopyland.com had allready arrived! I've just uploaded everything I allready had and made the news-page a php-page. From tomorrow on I'll slowly start creating the other php-pages, mainly the pages to register. The site won't be finished too soon though, because I have some exams to study. Also, because of that, I haven't made any new games yet in the period I didn't have internet. Those will come though, so don't panic!
I expect the site to be totally finished around the begining of october...

There are some pages added to the site. There is a small About-page now, where you can see a little information about the website itself. The page with the different colors of Woopies has been finished. Make sure to check the images on that page, since I put a lot of work in that. Then there is a page with the different inventions. There are only two inventions yet, more will be added when more have been... invented. Last but not least, the history page has been created, and there is allready one great story, written by Arbogoth. Also, more will be added later.
On the history-page, you might see something strange: <% $nu=date("Y")-1281; echo $nu; %> : Now. Don't mind this. You see this because I don't have a server that supports PHP yet. Which brings me to the next subject. Woopyland.com has been ordered! I've transfered the money friday, and now I'm waiting for an e-mail with more information. Most of the pages that have to be created from now on will be using PHP, and since the current server doesn't support this, I can't test anything. Therefor, I'm waiting for an e-mail before I continue. About the games. I've allready created three games. Of course, I will need lots more to keep the members amused. From next week on, I won't be able to access the internet for three weeks. This means, when I want to continue working on my site, I'll probably create games. So after this period, I expect to have two more games. Of course, I'm not very sure about that, since I don't have any inspiration for another game yet. Time will tell... Bye!

Don't worry if you don't see any progress on the site. I'm still working on it. I'm currently working on a game which takes more time than the others it seems. Also I've got my book about PHP, so I'm going to start learning that soon. It's only a thin book with a few basics though, so I'll have to learn most of it myself... Last thing, I just viewed my site on another pc with a normal graphical card, and it doesn't look as good as it does on my pc... not at all! For example, the castle on the map is way too dark. On my computer, the differences between the colors is clearly visible, while on the other computer, the castle was just a dark spot on the map. So I'm going to try to get the colors allright, not only on my screen...

I've found a backup of my old site with some information I can use. The images on the backup were too small though, so I'll recreate them later. Also I'm busy working on the Flash-games you'll be able to play, I'm currently working on the third one allready. The categories in which you can earn points with the game will be strength, intelligence and something else I still have to come up with (not health, since it's too close with strength). Also, tomorrow I'm going to get a book about PHP. And wednesday is my last exam (although I don't really have to do something for that one), so I'm going to work on the site seriously from then on. The site will probably be officially opened in the beginning of August, maybe sooner, maybe later.
I'll post more news regulary now!

There won't be changing anything visually on this site today. Mostly because the program I use for the images (Illustrator 10) is being a lovely girl. But that doesn't mean I'm not working on this site. I've looked for a hosting server and I'm allready pretty sure which one I'm going to take. I can also get my .com there. I will wait a little to get an account there though, I'm first going to complete the site a little more. I've also downloaded a forum that I'm going to use.
Unfortunately it will only work after I uploaded it to the hosting server, and then I still have to configure it a bit. But that's no problem since the forums shouldn't open before I have enough members anyway. I also might start working on one of the games you'll be able to play on this site. The games will all be made in Flash, so make sure your browser supports Flash (you can test by going to the map of Woopyland, if you see the map, you've got Flash).

I've been thinking about how Woopyland should look, and I thought I'd inform you about the general ideas. The first couple of weeks, this site will only provide information about woopies. When most of the information has been put on the site, I'm going to start learning PHP, so I can enable people to register to Woopyland. Of course, there should be something to do for the members, because otherwise they would be leaving one by one. Therefore, every member will be able to earn points. These points will be given in categories of strength, intelligency, health, and so on. The more points a member has, the better the comments will be in his/her profile page. There will also be a page with the current ranking. Members will be able to earn points by playing little games that have something to do with the different categories.
Next to that, after there are enough members, a forum will be added to the site. On this forum the members will be able to have a little chat with eachother. From time to time, there will be contests. The winner will be given bonus points, and of course, these bonus points will be greater than the regular amount of points you will be able to earn with the games. To keep the members amused, they will be able to unlock more games when they have more points. Also, when a members has a certain amount of points, he/she will be able to get a job in Woopyland, and when even more points have been earned, he/she will get promotions.
It will take some time to set this all up though, so please be patient. One last thing: when most of this site has been finished, I'll probably buy a .com for it!

King Woopy

Today, I came up with the great idea of reviving Woopyland! It has been a while since Woopyland ceased to be, but now it will be back, and better than ever! I've decided to make this site better-looking than the previous one (which looked like pie), and also to make it in english. This to reach people from all over the world.
The site will look a bit empty for now, but it will grow gradually, so I advice everyone to come back now and then. The main part will probably be finished in 2-3 weeks, and then I've got to find an easy way to allow people to registrate and become a member of Woopyland. There should also come a forum, but this is for later.
So for now, try to have fun without Woopyland a little longer, and check this site regulary...
