| Woopyland needs YOU! |
Woopyland needs YOU! Development for Woopyland has been slow, I will admit that. There are several reasons for this, none more obvious than staff size. One person working on a website is a hefty job. I certainly think development would be much faster if I had the necessary resources to not have to worry about finances. Thusly, we find the key to getting V3 released FASTER. Fundraising! Keeping the site hosted, keeping my brain working, and keeping my stomach fed are all things that require cash, and I could certainly use some right now, since I just lost my only source of income. Won't you please donate to support Woopyland? Check out our fundraising page on IndieGoGo, and please watch this video to find out how YOU can help Woopyland in its time of need! Thanks for listening, Dev out |

Members of WL, as I've been working on the new build I realized exactly how much functionality I had built for the Woopyland FAQ... this functionality allows for members to submit FAQ's and for someone to answer them. This calls to attention the need for (once again) a Woopyland Guide. Back in V2, we had a crew position known as the "Woopyland Guide" so to speak. Whoolie held this position for... ever, pretty much. Once King Woopy left us, Whoolie quit the guide position to take his place as King, and the position has remained in contest ever since. At one point, we had aj at that position (I think?) and then satin kind of picked up the slack when he left (management staff). Though, satin is now in charege of member settlements (private messaging reports, forum flags, etc), crowd control essentially. SO, we will be looking out for a dedicated crew relations manager (or Woopyland Guide officially). This person will answer any concerns of the members of Woopyland, manage the FAQ, and also write guides (sometimes). Unlike other members of Woopyland, this person will also have a method to directly contact me at most times of the day, just in case a FAQ question is proposed that they do not know the answer to. Likewise, they will be a member of the official crew, and will have access to restricted information and site pages. Until this person is found, Whoolie will be assuming control of the FAQ in the new version (if he so chooses). Furthermore, we are also still looking for an advertiser, artist, and game designer. All unpaid. Leave your applications in the forum designated. ALSO: I will be doing a podcast soon, hopefully Whoolie will join me, though with his schedule lately I can't make heads or tails of the liklihood that will happen. Since my schedule is also ridiculous, I am unsure as to when it will be released. I would also like to submit that I am receiving new video equipment today and tomorrow, which means the "Vlog" idea for Woopyland may return! Stay tuned for that. Dev out, Pun |
| Why isn't the new V3 out yet? |
Why isn't the next version out yet? It's actually quite simple. Skyrim, procrastination, and also technical reasons dealing with the way Woopyland is coded and developed. To be perfectly honest, I might have been under the influence of narcotics when I was scripting the last provisions (from July, August, and September). Because, looking over it I made some seriously sloppy mistakes. Due to this, I've been reformatting not only this stuff but also some of the surrounding code already implemented in Woopyland, just to generally clean it up and introduce a bit more stability. Likewise, I've filled in some of the gaps where we didn't have essential features. The next update will include pages in the forums, pages in the leader-boards, formatting fixes on crappy browsers, and a lot of basic dependencies. Not only that, but the leaderboards will be reset and a lot of the game stuff will be reworked to improve fairness and realistic rewards. Oh.. right.. release date. I'm looking at this Friday, but at the VERY latest Christmas day (my gift to you guys). Lets hope Christmas comes early. Cheers! The Dev is back. |

Hi, Scratch the last blog post, everything is back in motion. I found the finances needed to buy my new PC. The PC will be here on Saturday or Monday, so expect the new Woopyland update to be applied over Thanksgiving break as my long deserved gift to you guys Oh, and everyone be sure to stop by facebook or wherever and wish King Woopy, our former leader, a very happy birthday because he turned... 27? Yea... I think that's about right... well he turned some age today, whatever that may be. He's a cool fella, and its because of him we're still around. I mean, he didn't drop us in the dirt, he left the site in capable hands so that it could live on. Welp, I'll see you guys on the new Woopyland next week Dev out, Punisher |

Chris here, As I said before, I planned on releasing what I've done since August for V3 when I built my new computer. Problem is, I raised about 700$ for that computer, and now I don't have a source of income. I'm just over 800$ short... So I don't know how I'm going to make that money. I don't know if I will be able to make that money. I guess this means I need to release what I've done for V3 regardless of having that new computer, but none the less I'm a little irritated. I'll get back to you when I've made a decision. Dev out, Punisher |
| V3 Beta Stage II |
OK, so here's the deal. I recently nabbed a job making 500$ per tutorial video series I make. So I'm making 30 vids so that I can raise enough money for a new Computer. It should take me roughly a week and a half to finish the videos, and hopefully only 2 or 3 days after that to have my new PC up and running. When I get that new PC, I'll upload everything I've been working on since August for V3 of Woopyland This means roughly 2+ months of work will all be rushing into Woopyland V3 at one time... there will be some big.. no... monumental changes in V3. This may be our biggest (and possibly buggiest!) update yet. Unfortunately, it also means a site reset. Everyone's highscores and xp will be reset to 0. You may be thinking, "But... I don't want to play games over again for these points!". Well, we'll give out some prizes to those of you who do good in this next build, so you can have a chance to earn some swag and reputation for redoing things. We want to give back to the community for what they've done for the site. Anyways, just a heads up on how the next update will work and when it is happening. Can't wait! - Dev out |
| The Next Build |
Hey guys! Been working on some stuff, namely the random info page, some game fixes, job stuff, etc. Along with that, I've been working on the COM Token system. All of that should be released this week! Yay! With that said, our premium membership will be launching this Friday. As of now I think the premium membership will be called "The Hub". Special features given to Hub members include custom avatars on the forum, more private message space, special forum, and 5 extra COM Tokens a month. We know you don't like the idea of a premium membership, but Woopyland is in severe need of financing, and this is the best we could think of without putting ads on the site, we assure you it will never interfere with the site being fun. | Development is Back |
So essentially for the past month or so, I've been on a sort of... well... educational and social leave, mainly to get back into the swing of school and not get my ass handed to me grade-wise. I've got less classes to take, but equal amount of work to do for them. This will be my last year if public schooling, so soon enough I'll have to get into the loathsome effort of finding a University to attend, when really, I'm not sure I like education at all. My entire LIFE is here on the internet, and I'll be damned if my job description isn't in the same boat. That's why I must... I MUST get Woopyland up to speed. We need a big thriving community full of features and interesting things for our members to constantly indulge in. We need contests. We need rank competition. We need weekly events, daily events, challenges to overcome, unlockables to seek, and games to play. Which is why starting today, I'm back on duty. Getting stuff tested and released. I've learned a lot from working at Woopyland. I've coded stuff I never dreamed I'd code. Image rendering systems, advanced character manipulation sequences, thuroughly developed administration constructs. But it's not enough, it's never enough. We still need shop functionality, more games added, improvements to ranks and xp earning, overall formatting improvements, and more. It takes time to make these things on an unpaid salary with little gain to speak of. The only reason I keep doing it is because I truly believe that Woopyland has potential. When I work on websites, I do it because I like the idea of the site. I don't think of monetary possibilities until near completion, as a site shouldn't die for monetary reasons, lots of sites that are friggen awesome aren't even monetized. Wikipedia is one of those sites. 4chan is one of those sites. These sites make money on donations alone. With that said, I have begun development on the finishing touches of BETA release today. We are still lacking a few features promised in the last release (clothes and minor job features). I'll do you one better and get a few more stuff out. I'm almost done coding the random info page and I've already planned the entire "Woopyland" section of the address bar, so that's pretty much booked for "soon". As for more games, next phase of rank updates will include 8-12 MORE games to play, along with more ranks Until then, keep up with the forums. I'll see you in a few days with some new content, thanks for being patient. - Dev out |

| Summer is OVER |
It is official, summer of 2011 is finally over (as far as school and fun times go). Somehow or another, Woopyland only had one major update in that time frame. One could be wondering something like "What the hell?" in this circumstance. We at the Woopyland crew understand your pain. At the moment, along with playing the hell out of Dead Island, I am working to ensure that a new release is imminent, and that the new release thoroughly impresses the Woopyland populace. This means all of the stuff you hoped to see in V3 Beta's original release, but did not actually come to fruition, will be here. I'm not going to bother listing what that consists of, but I'm sure the average user knows. Why did nothing happen for over a month now? It's really quite simple. Whoolie was visiting from the Netherlands, and stayed at my humble abode for 3 weeks. We traveled, we gamed, we poked, we raged, and we had a lot of laughs. I'll be compiling all of the decent pictures of this trip into one topic for you guys to drool over and what not. We also filmed some Vlog footage which has not yet been produced, but should be posted on Woopyland eventually. This meeting between the two most active Woopyland crew members was marked the 2500th day of Woopyland's existence and a new hope for V3. Oddly enough, it also marked the longest period that I did not keep in touch with V3... more than a month. Anyways, I assure you that Whoolie and I had a blast. On day 1, we were almost arrested. On days 2-5 we roamed San Antonio, Texas, visiting the Alamo, the "Tower of the Americas", the caverns, and much much more. The rest of the trip was mostly comprised of Geocaching, sight seeing, movie watching with friends (Nathan, Aleks, Chris-2), and of course poking. Yes, Whoolie POKED ME every time I swore in Dutch. I have the bruises to prove it. The little bastard. Other places we ventured to include Pearland, Friendswood, Houston (tram riding), San Jacinto (battleships), and of course GALVESTON! Yea, we spent an entire day in Galveston, traversing sand dunes, walking among the many sea-wall enthusiasts, and listening in on conversations in the local subway. In summary: 59 geocaches, 4+ gigabytes of pictures, 40+ gigabytes of video, and easily over 5 tanks of gas consumed (That's nearly 1500 miles traveled!), insurmountable fun times had. And, as summer is brought to a close, and V3 is not yet complete, I am left to wonder once again, where this crazy train is headed. I know that this train will move forward, but the destination is quite, at this point, unknown. Whatever the results of this project of ours, this land of woopies, you can all remember this. We were all here, and we were all witnesses to its rise and its inception. Thanks for staying with us, and we hope your summer was as epic as ours. Yours truly, that guy. |
